So, it's time to add another blog post to the Primal-Chro. Sorry I have been so slow. I guess I've been concentrating on other things.
In this article that came out earlier in the year, written by an executive coach, his personal experience probably mirrors a lot of people who gained their lost weight back. Don't we hear that a lot about the yo-yo going up and down and up and down?
People who gain weight back might be thinking like this author. He believed once he got to his desired weight he thought he could add grains back in.
Well, that is a no-no and for a very good reason: the body handles grains very poorly. Especially whole grains. They all raise insulin. It doesn't matter your age of activity level. Grains must go.
But the Paleo-Primal diet is not boring. Not at all! Enjoy the health and high energy. See the photo above? That is fun eating! Enjoy the health and high energy.

Why You Need Salt on a Low Carb Diet
When you are getting your blood sugar back in balance and insulin is more sensitive, the kidneys are going to dump dump dump excess fluids. In this process, sodium is lost, as well as other minerals.
Make sure you are using REAL SALT sea salt.

Making Paleo Practical
We bought a food slicer to reduce food waste. It is such a plus. We have plenty of sliced vegetables and meat on hand for quick meal making. I can whip out an omlette or salad very quickly. We don't buy expensive cold-cut meats anymore. Sometimes cold cuts are too salty and just gross tasting. But real food always tastes better.

When Your Brain Misfires
Feeling like you hit a plateau?
Feeling tired and rundown?
Feeling frazzled and overwhelmed?
Even when you are trying to stick to a healthier eating plan, some days just seem difficult.
Mark's Daily Apple has 8 suggestions to pursue to reverse a negative trend and get your brain out of a rut.
Often we are dealing with strong addictions to wheat and sugar. Keep at 72 grams of carbs a day to maintain balance. Opt for fruit when the sweet tooth attacks. (For more information on the 72 gram plan, ask me at your next adjustment.) Often when craving sugar, your body is really craving fatty meat! A salt craving may mean a physiological need for salt.
When feeling overwhelmed, the body has extra needs for nutrients. When the adrenal glands are overworked we reach for the comfort foods, when really should have a plan in place to avoid binge eating. Schedules need to be more flexible so proper meal planning can take place. Rest and vacations are nessary. Again, more salt is needed due to the rise in cortisol disturbs electrolyte balance.
Over-working out is also a stress on the body that needs adequate nutrient replenishing.
Lack of sleep is also a very popular problem. Staying up too late to meet obligations is draining.
And, peer pressure is always lurking about making us feel anxious over social situations.
If you can evaluate these 8 areas and plan a response, natural improvements can be seen.

Easy Starting Steps When Going Paleo
Don't get nervous. Don't make it complicated. Start here:
- Skip the sugar – in all of its forms. Especially liquid calories from any source (soda, juice, alcohol) all of which store belly fat. Be on a mission to get high fructose corn syrup out of your diet, it is especially good at laying down belly fat.
- Ditch the flour – wheat flour, especially, is just like sugar. Did you know that 2 slices of whole wheat bread raise your blood sugar more than 2 tablespoons of table sugar?
- Start the day with protein not starch or sugar. Try whole omega-3 eggs, a protein shake, nut butters or even kippers! Skip the bagels, muffins and donuts.
- Have protein with every meal – try nuts like almonds, walnuts or pecans, seeds like pumpkin, chia or hemp or have beans, chicken or fish.
Read this study why low protein diets give you more body fat.....YUCK.
